For years, I struggled to find a hat that worked with my long, thick hair. Traditional hats meant squeezing my bun into a tight space, settling for a low ponytail, or dealing with a hot, itchy neck and hair in my face. On top of that, I wanted a wider brim to shield my face from harmful UV-rays as I would get melasma or skinpigmentation marks as soon as I exposed my face to the sun.  I also wanted a hat made from natural and breathable materials. But nothing on the market checked all the boxes.

So, I took matters into my own hands. I sketched and designed a hat that finally fit my needs: a wide-brim bucket hat with a thoughtfully placed hole at the top—perfect for buns and ponytails. Unlike the options out there, this design didn’t force me to compromise my hair or my comfort. And just like that, BUNSOUT was born.
